Welcome to FAAR16J.com, a dedicated online portal for fans and former operators of the FAAR (Forward Area Alerting Radar). This site serves as a link to the FAAR Forward Area Alerting Radar Operators Facebook Group, where U.S. Army veterans who served as FAAR Air Defenders can reconnect and share their experiences.
The FAAR system, operated by a three-man team, was classified under the U.S. Army Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) code 16J. For over 12 years, the FAAR Forward Area Alerting Radar Operators Facebook page has been a place where many 16J veterans have reconnected with their brothers in arms after years apart.
This community was founded by Gary Richardson, a dedicated patriot who saw the need for a group specifically for FAAR Operators. Unlike other Air Defense soldiers’ groups, there was no place for FAAR veterans to gather—until Gary stepped in.
In honor of Gary and all the 16J FAAR operators, this website aims to further connect former FAAR soldiers and help them relive the great memories and adventures of their past service.
